Kentucky Nearly Swallowed Us
January/17/08
We have been sidetracked in Kentucky for more than a
week. It was unexpected but delightful, and I can
only hope every state we encounter will be as grand -
though I doubt it is possible.
It began with a phone call to one Edwin Kagin, I'd read an article about how his atheist organization was right nearby the Creation Museum. I was sold, so a few calls later we were on our way to Union, KY. Edwin and his wife Helen were two of the most interesting and amazing people we had ever met!
What was supposed to be a couple hour interview turned into a three or four day adventure, and by the time we left they were like family.
The Creation Museum was fascinating, though we may not agree with all that they said the museum was incredible - designed by an amusement park designer, and it did raise some interesting questions.
From Union we headed to Lexington where we stayed with Marceline and Mark who we met on Craigslist. They live in the historic Jessamine county and there we could have spent weeks filming the history and the people, very interesting stuff coming up.
We made it to Corbin just a few days ago to the Colonel Sanders museum which was very interesting and our guide Junior gave us a fantastic tour!
So much to do, so much footage to edit, where will we ever find the time!!!
